Power - Evaluation Kits

Our industry leading Power over Ethernet (PoE) products simplify adding PoE to any Ethernet system and support the latest 90 W IEEE 802.3bt standard. Easily add power to a single Ethernet port or to an entire multi-port switch with our Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE) products. Eliminate the need for an external power supply in an Ethernet connected device by using one of our integrated, efficient Powered Device (PD) products to take power off of the Ethernet cable. PoE PD evaluation kits contain an evaluation board with RJ-45 jacks to allow direct connection into a PoE-enabled system, as well as power supply connectors to enable monitoring of the Si3402B’s regulated dc output. EVBs are configured by default to generate a 5V output. The EVB Users Guides provide a tabular summary of the BOM changes required to configure the Si3402B to generate 3.3V, 9V and 12V output supplies.

The Si34062 Class 2 Dual Output Evaluation Kit demonstrates a complete IEEE 802.3at Power over Ethernet PD system using Si34062 PoE PD device. A single Si34062 manages the PoE interface, dc-dc conversion, and advanced power modes. The isolated flyback converter supports 7.5W with both a 5V and a 3.3V output. With the push of a button the Si34062 puts the system to sleep or wakes it up, all while maintaining the PoE connection.

The Si3406 PD integrates an internal rectifier bridge, detection circuit, classification circuit, dc/dc switch, hotswap switch, TVS overvoltage protection, dynamic soft-start circuit, cycle-by-cycle current limit, thermal shutdown, optional synchronous secondary rectification driver, automatic and user-mode MPS functionality, and inrush current protection. The isolated flyback converter outputs up to 0.45 A for a total power of 7 W while using a standard, off-the-shelf transformer. The board features a non-Isolated flyback topology for high-efficiency power conversion, and is configured for Class 2 (7W and below) power. The board can be re-configured for other power classes with simple BOM changes as described in the User’s Guide.
